Tequila Sunrise made with tequila and fruit juice

Tequila Sunrise Cocktail

Tequila Sunrise is an exquisite cocktail that is made using Tequila, Orange Juice and Grenadine. The three ingredients when put together and gently stirred gives a temporary sunrise effect. The effect gives Tequila Sunrise a texture different to other drinks and is liked by many just because of this sunrise effect. But in no ways is this cocktail all about texture, it has its a great taste too.

Instructions

How to mix Tequila Sunrise Cocktail

  • As the name suggests, the most important thing while preparing Tequila Sunrise is its Sunrise effect. The sunrise effect can be achieved easily by first creating three layers of different ingredients in it. To get the Tequila Sunrise the right way, we use the different ingredients based on their density so it does not mix unevenly.
    50 ml Tequila
  • Take a highball glass and first add Grenadine to it.
    20 ml Grenadine
  • Now fill the glass with lots of ice and add Tequila to it.
Lots of Ice, 50 ml Tequila
  • Now slowly add Orange juice to fill the glass.
    100 ml Orange Juice
  • Just before serving, to bring the sunrise effect, take the Muddling spoon and gently stir the Grenadine settled at the bottom of the glass.
  • Do not stir too much or too fast else it will just make the whole cocktail Pinkish or light red in colour and spoil the whole sunrise effect.
  • Also, add a orange zest just before serving the cocktail.
    Orange Wedge for garnishing

Notes

Few considerations while preparing and serving the cocktail -
  • It is better to use freshly squeezed Orange juice to get the best flavour.
  • It is best to add Grenadine first so it does not leave red streaks in the whole drink.
  • While stirring you may see the sunrise effect a bit late so be gentle while stirring. It is not difficult and within a couple of preparations you will be easily able to get a good sunrise effect.
