How to make Boondi Raita

  • Take Yogurt in a bowl and beat it till smooth. Once yogurt is smooth, add Boondi aka Spicy Chickpeas fried puffs to it.
1 cup Natural Yogurt, 1/4 cup Spicy Chickpeas flour puffs
  • Now add Red Chilies powder, Black Salt, Table Salt, Roasted Cumin Seeds and Black Pepper, to yogurt and mix it well. If you like, you can also add some chopped green chilies to it as well to add extra spice. If the Boondi Raita is thick then add little amount of water to make it smooth.
1/4 tsp Table Salt, 1/2 tsp Black Salt, 1/2 tsp Roasted Cumin Seeds, 1 tsp Red chillies powder, 1/2 tsp crushed Black Pepper, 5 g Green Chillies
  • And that is all, your Boondi Raita is ready in these two steps. Before serving, garnish Boondi Raita with Coriander and Mint leaves.
Few Coriander Leaves for garnishing, Few fresh Mint leaves for garnishing

Notes

Few considerations while cooking and serving -
  • If you have unsalted Boondi then keep them in luke warm salted water for five minutes before preparing Boondi Raita. This will ensure that Boondi's will soak well and become slightly salted. After 5 mins, drain salted water and press them gently to rinse soaked water from Boondis. Now add them to yogurt and mix all ingredients.
  • If the Yogurt is too sour then you can add a little sugar while making it. Also, if you prefer sweet Boondi Raita then you can add Sugar instead of Rock Salt or add just a little bit of it to get that extra flavour.
  • In case you have used salted Boondi, and have not soaked them already in water then you would need to add some water as Boondis will soak water and grow in size.
